Ameka Smith is our Marriage and Family Specialist.  She was born and raised in Syracuse, New York.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Morgan State University.   From there, she studied early childhood education, and then proceeded to study Marriage and Family Therapy.  In December 2020, Ameka earned her Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University.  Ameka strives to create a warm and welcoming environment for the clients she serves to promote a safe space for healing.  She believes that therapy is a collaborative process and guides clients to increase self-awareness, gain new perspectives, decrease adverse symptoms, and increase personal strengths to have a more meaningful life experience.  Ameka’s views on her role as a therapist is, “To meet each individual where they are in order to get them to where they want to be”.   She is passionate about working with people who make the brave choice to step into therapy and into healing.  When Ameka is not seeing clients for therapy, she enjoys traveling and making clients look and feel beautiful in the beauty salon.
